As the only tertiary center for Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) in Sarawak, O&G Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) provides specialized care for a wide range of maternal and women’s health needs. With extensive experience, SGH manages over 11,000 deliveries annually, offering both general and advanced services to ensure the well-being of mothers and babies.
Obstetrics
SGH offers comprehensive obstetric care, including management of complex pregnancies referred from other hospitals. Services include:
- Antenatal Specialist Clinics
- Antenatal Diabetic Clinic
- Antenatal Combined Clinic (with General Medicine)
- Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit
Subspeciality – Maternal-Fetal Medicine
The Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Unit is dedicated to high-risk pregnancies, offering:
- Advanced screenings and tests (e.g., amniocentesis, fetal surgery)
- Expert care for both mother and baby, with ongoing monitoring and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Ultrasound training for local healthcare providers to enhance care across Sarawak
Gynaecology
SGH provides a full spectrum of gynaecological services, including general and subspecialty care, to address women’s health at every stage of life. In additon to General Gynaecology we also offer to following subspeciality care:

Daycare Surgery
The newly expanded Surgical Daycare Centre at Sarawak General Hospital now offers additional outpatient procedures, including hysteroscopy, colposcopy, and laparoscopic surgeries. Patients undergo preoperative assessments at the clinic to ensure proper preparation, including referrals to the anaesthetic team if needed. Surgeries are performed on the same day, and patients are discharged later that day if there are no complications, with follow-up plans in place.
Patient Admission Centre (PAC)
Our Patient Admission Centre (PAC) is conveniently located on Level 4 of the Main Block at Sarawak General Hospital. We are available 24/7 to assist you for any pregnancy concern that needs immediate attention. Make sure you have a discussion with MCH (KKIA) doctors on what are conditions that immediate attention.
